Early fall....

It's been an unseasonably warm fall here, so the leaves are only beginning to turn when they ought to have fallen off completely by this time.

Not that I'm complaining, mind - but I was hoping to get some "fall colour" shots for you.  Instead, hear are some "early fall colour" pics I took last weekend when we were out and about...  some of them will certainly be inspiration for future quilts!

I took about 20 pictures of these ruins for instance...

And about 50 different angles of this church, which definitely feels like a series in the making.

Taking this pic was taking my life in my hands - literally - I'm allergic to bees and wasps, and those red vines were full of them. But that's what a zoom lens is for. Avoiding bees!

Hope you're having a great weekend.

This week I'll have a couple of finishes, some weird and wacky, and another giveaway.

Should be fun!    :)

  1. After yesterday's post where you describe a world that is nothing like the one I have here, today's post looks as if you came for a visit and took shots of the surrounding area. Where I live, there are old ruined walls like the one you have shown, everywhere.

  3. I have to second what Deborah just said ;-)) If you like that kind of scenery, you should jump onto a plane and come over - we can explore lots of places in old Europe ;-)) Great pictures, and the series inspired by the church will be VERY interesting ;-))

I love love love those ruins. I miss seeing random rock walls like that. Back east they used to have ruins all over the place especially of old dividing walls between fields, that are now once again forests.

  5. Steve, we had an awesome time. It was a truly restorative weekend. I said to BSP that those three days felt like a week-long vacation!
