Lake of Dreams - Fabric Version and winner!

I don't know if you'll recall, but when I was making the paper versions of these, I had a sudden brainstorm that making them if fabric would be cool, too. ;)

So I decided to make one - and here it is!

I did it exactly the same way - i.e. after completely, I fused it to a commercial canvas. This one is slightly bigger though - 11 x 14" and done portrait rather than landscape.  I think the landscape version is more successful though.

Hope you have a great weekend - and for those of you recovering from Sandy - our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  2. Very, very, very cool. :D My husband just peeked over my shoulder, so I had to show him the backlink to the paper versions. He's duly impressed.

  4. Beautiful Kit, but I agree I like the landscape version a little better. I still love the 4 landscapes together as you've shown them in the other post.

  5. Either way I am sincerely blown away by your artwork! It's on my list to experiment with picture quilts and you just moved it considerably up my list! Again, WOW!

  6. Ooohhh, Awwww... So pretty! I already told you I love birch trees. This fabric version is beautiful! I've been wanting to make a birch quilt ala Charlie Harper. Maybe this'll motivate me to get started....

  7. Nice finish Ms. Kit. Evocative of an August day when the birch leaves are beginning to drop. What is commercial canvas? Is it the stuff you buy for canopies, the duck one uses for outdoor furniture, or do I go to a craft store and buy the painters' canvas. I'm just dipping my toe in the art quilt world, and it seems that would be a perfect backing for a wall quilt. You are awesome.

  9. Smashing and I quite like the portrait sizing. But all are really superb!
    Well done Beth!

  10. Kit - you have hit on a winner here. I am not sure if I prefer the fabric or paper versions and certainly don't have a view on portrait or landscape, but I must say that a set of 4 work really well.

btw how do you attached them to the canvas?

  11. Although the theme and images are very similar, they both have such different feel. I like both versions. The branches and leaves add that bit of "nature" to it and the paper ones are more linear in a way I find relaxing. Bet BSP gabs the four for the office!! Great to look at while working.

  14. Super - and I love that little piece of yellow on top, it lights the quilt up so much !

  15. It turned out very well in 'portrait' orientation -- and I love your tiny leaves! -- but I agree there's something special about 'landscape' orientation for a landscape... ;-)

I love your art! This piece speaks to a poem I wrote and I would like to credit your work on my site with my posting of the poem. I adore your work. Many of the backgrounds are gorgeous even without the work being "finished"! I like the way you show the craft of your work in stages
