Are you ready?!?

This week and next, I'm taking you through the construction of a piece that took, in actuality, just over six weeks.  At the time of my writing this, I believe I have another 20 to 30 hours to put in, and then it will be done - but at the present time, it is looking AWESOME (even if I do say so myself) and I couldn't be more pleased.

It's my first piece of 2013, it's my first piece in fulfillment of my vision of the kind of work I've decided to do, and it looks (even unfinished) EXACTLY the way I imagined it.

So, are you ready?!  Let's go! More after the jump...

When I first started painting this fabric, BSP said to me "Why are you painting over that nice fabric?" and I thought "because *I* don't like this fabric!" - but it just goes to show - different strokes for different folks!

Anyway! I quilted it (there's a subtle wing pattern there if you look closely); and then I gessoed it.

And then I painted over it with the paints pictured above - mostly full strength, but some thinned a wee bit.

This is just a sneak peek 'cuz I forgot to take a picture of it before I started adding stuff to it.

Oops!

More on Wednesday...
