Working on a layout - I kinda like it (black velvet, green silk); but if I keep going in this way, I'm going to end up with a queen sized art quilt. (!)
It's already 49 x 41 inches and I envision another three squares this size...
I know, I know; you're thinking "that's a sun print?" Okay, I admit, it's an unexpected result, but I went about it in the expected way - just used unusual colours.
I didn't want to use the expected green, so thought if I did black, I might end up with some cool, gray leaf shaped resists.
Although I have not yet purchased India Flint's book Eco Colour (nor have I purchased her follow-up - Second Skin); I did attend a talk by her last year, and from what I remember, it seemed the process was as follows: grab some plants, roll 'em up tight in cotton, silk, wool or other natural fibers, cook 'em, and let them hang around for awhile. Open them up and be amazed and astounded by their beauty!
