A week ago Sunday, BSP and I got into our casual clothes; packed the car with rubber boots, warm socks, and a couple of small pieces of my art, and after a stop for coffee and bagels, told Leslie (our GPS lady), that we wanted to drive North to Parry Sound. A couple of hours later, we crossed the bridge into Wasauksing First Nation.
Apparently, tomorrow is a very elastic term with me. lol
But, back to what I was talking about last week... So, the water turned out fine once it was dry, it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but watercolour kind of makes up its own mind about what it wants to do (and that's even more true when you're painting on fabric!); so I left it to its own devices and called it good.
I made the ladies out of a vintage table cloth and painted their skin on cotton muslin.
Because this piece is so small, I stayed very true to the original sketch.
I've been working on a number of things concurrently the last little while; a couple of pieces for SAQA, a commission, and research for the next couple of commissions
Nineteen days after the start of a new year seems about right for a year in review, right? lol
Last week sometime, I was thinking that I really should do some blogging and fill you in on what I've been up to lately; when it occurred to me that I hadn't done my annual Year In Review.
If I were doing it just for you, I'd let it go, because you've moved on by now (!); but I do these for me as well - to track not only what I was up to, but to see if there are any themes or areas that are moving to the forefront; things I might want to explore further in the next year; and find out if there are techniques I need to work on if I want to continue working with it/them.
For newbies to my YIR posts, they're long and wordy. You may wish to skip to the last couple of paragraphs where I talk about what's coming for 2017. (I won't know myself until I get there, I never know what I'm thinking until I write it down!)
So, in no particular order, on to the pictures. :)
