Yes/No/Maybe?

Working on a layout - I kinda like it (black velvet, green silk); but if I keep going in this way, I'm going to end up with a queen sized art quilt. (!)

It's already 49 x 41 inches and I envision another three squares this size...

But I'm not wildly happy with the layout so far.  Re-think it or go ahead.

What to do, what to do...

  1. First of all - I love the idea of your design, it looks very promising. But I can understand you're not happy with it at this moment. When I tried to understand what stopped me from the spontanous WOW, I thought it might be the proportions. I have the feeling it's a bit too much black velvet ? And the two flower pieces are not connected by the small silk strips. So my idea would be - reduce the background a bit and connect your flower pieces with the silk, maybe that would already do the trick?
Overall, to me this is a YES, YES, YES !! and I'm soo sure you'll make this piece sing ;-))

  2. The Erin Perspective(tm) for what it is worth:

I would shift the upper flower block to the left so that it meets the green silk ribbon (that is slanting diagonally). Basically what quilthexie said!
