So....
I had this idea - I was going to make a totally fantastic, super dark and moody raven (Poe-worthy, even). It was going to be the centrepiece of our superfantastico Halloweenie decorations, and it's frightening demeanour was going to blow. you. away.
And while I was making it, I was watching Knotting Hill (my favourite movie); and, instead of a scary raven, I made this.
A nice, friendly looking bird.
In my defence, it's impossible to make something scary when Julia Roberts is smiling at you.

I'm just impressed with it, whether it is scary or not, pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteStrange how those things happen. I made a textile piece which was meant to be hung at church to help people remember to think about our friend who works with orphans in Ethiopia.
ReplyDeleteonly I was listening to Gormengast on audio books and so it has only ever lived in my cupboard! (that and the fact that I used African animal fabrics never thinking that they aren't in Ethiopia!) I must get it out. I think I have more or less forgotten how strange and odd the book was. and now we have another friend who has gone back to Zimbabwe and we are helping her help the people in distress who live near her. So, if I add her name to it, it can be for both!

Just want to say that Notting Hill is our fav movie too - now I have a daughter that watches it with me too!
ReplyDeleteSo - a truly happy accident ;-)) and a lovely bird !!
ReplyDeletevery pretty...and you are right, not very scary at all. LOL
ReplyDeleteFWIW, Ravens aren't at all scary to me. They're actually one of the most intelligent birds. We have tons of them around us, and they're always so much fun to watch and listen to. I like it a lot, and bet the ravens would too!
ReplyDeleteLOL! It is very cute though!
ReplyDeletehow about abit of 'blood' dripping from the beak then????? lol
ReplyDeleteOh Kit. You always make me smile (and giggle too)
ReplyDeleteHe may not be scary - but he is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project! Nope, not scary at all though. ;) This fellow is too pretty to be frightening. Thanks for linking up to TGIFF!
ReplyDeleteOr indeed when Hugh Grant is doing his English Toff Posh Boy thing!
ReplyDeleteps do you know '4 Weddings and a Funeral' - I have to confess one of my favourite films!
Very nice bird, but sadly not scary. I guess you'll have to set it aside and make it's scary twin!
