When I first conceived of this I thought it was wonderful. Simple, yet it conveyed (I thought) what I was trying to say.
When it was done, I really didn't like it. Felt like tossing it across the room, actually. Now, several days later, I feel more kindly towards it - the quilting has changed it - I knew it would - but in a way I didn't foresee.
BSP LOVES it, which has helped contribute to my feeling more kindly towards it. I forget that as with everything, I have to learn how to work this way.
Another finished abstract on Friday.
Till then!
Rather stunning. How is it 'finished'? Is it me, or is it mounted on a canvas?
ReplyDeleteI love this! It just jumped off the computer monitor. The variations in the green over the grey have great impact and the pops of color in the bottom section ground the whole thing. Whatever your feelings may be about it, rest assured it had a positive effect on me.
ReplyDeleteI like it too. From a distance it intrigues. The quilting and the subtle bits of color in the darker portion give it a lovely air of mystery up close. Nice work -- makes me want to try out some more abstract myself.
ReplyDeleteI agree...this is very successful and I know just what you mean....abstract can be so much more difficult when one usually sticks to visual 'story' type subjects....you did good!
ReplyDeleteI love it, Kit. I often have a love hate relationship with things I'm working on.
ReplyDeleteI can really see how you changed your feelings towards it after the quilting. A lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was painting (very young) I destroyed most of what I painted. I regret that now. I just need an overnight to "see things differently"
ReplyDeleteI have experienced the same things. If I wait a day or two, not looking at it, it suddenly looks OK
ReplyDeleteI do love your combination of quilting and colour, so visually stunning! With all the knowledge and skills you have built with your narrative pieces, your new journey into abstracts again will be a fascinating exploration. I can't wait to see what happens!!
