I'm totally excited! lol
I'm (finally) getting around to making the Pay It Forward gifts, and am doing them in the order that BSP pulled the names, so I started making Quilterbear's gift yesterday.
It's a little more time intensive than I expected (not having made one before); but ZOMG!! it's sooooooooo pretty! I'm so pleased! Every time BSP came into the sewing room, it was all "That's so beautiful!" And though BSP thinks everything I make is beautiful, this time, it really is!
Anyway, I'm totally excited because a: I've never made one before, b: I'm doing it without a pattern and thus far, it's turning out well, and c: it's so pretty! Violet, yellow green...
Also, I'm pleased to say, I'm finally caught up on ALL of my birthday blocks (although I'm NOT so pleased with the Depression Blocks I made - I'm going to send them so she doesn't think I've COMPLETELY forgotten about her, but I'm going to have to make another set and re-send them. The points are off. Any hints from my readers? I don't paper piece...) The other ones are pretty though.
I'm also almost caught up on my round robins (sheesh, those are a lot of work, I don't think I'll ever do one again.)
So, I'm being a good girl, catching up on my responsibilities and having fun with them. :)
I hope to have pictures to post soon. Now that I'm almost caught up, I should be able to quilt a UFO so we'll have at least that soon.
Hope you're all doing well, and in the meantime, be good and have fun!

Ooh, it all sounds so exciting- and I really, really want to know what these gorgeous PIF gifts are!!! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm making each recipient something different, something that I think they'll like or need. Quilterbear's is actually differnt than what I had been planning, but I was inspired by something I was working for the birthday blocks folks - I thought - "oooh! Quilterbear would like this!" and it followed from there.
ReplyDelete:)
For the depression block, have you been cutting out triangles and sewing them together to make each square unit or starting with squares, sewing them together, and cutting them into 2 units?
ReplyDeleteIn any case, if you're having problems with the points, this is a bit of a hassle, but I'd suggest making each unit a little bit bigger (instead of using a 3 7/8-in square, use a 4-in one) and then trimming them down to size (each unit should be 3 1/2-in). That way you know the unit is the right size and you can also align it when you trim so that seam is exactly down the middle.
Anyway, I don't know if that's a very good explanation of what I mean... but hopefully it'll help.
I posted a comment on your other journal at LJ but wanted to also post it here.
ReplyDeleteYour GORGEOUS, FANTASTIC gift came today, and I was absolutely bowled over by it! Not only was the gift inside spectacular, but the packaging was beautiful, and so was the handmade card. I loved it!
And on to the gift itself: it is a gorgeous quilted bag made from the three colors I said I liked (never dreamed they'd be used together but they are so PRETTY!). It actually fits perfectly on the back of my motorized chair (I'm handicapped) and looks like a quilt hanging there. It is perfect for our trips when I go to the doctors, as it is large enough to hold my crocheting (dishcloths) and Kindle as well as sunglasses, and etc.
I love it. I absolutely LOVE it! And my husband, who is also a quilter, does too!
thank you so very very much!
