Un Poco Loco

You may remember I gave you a sneak peek of this last Monday on my "WIP Wednesday" (I know, I know, but we're back on schedule now!);  so here's the finished product on Monday like it's supposed to be.  *heh

The inspriration for this quilt was believe it or not, this:

was the inspriration.  Over the last few months, I was lucky enough to become acquainted with a costume designer who works here in Toronto and, every month or so, she has gifted me with huge bags of the most wonderful and delicious scraps! (She was the one I made the most recent tote bag I posted for as a thank you - entirely out of the scraps she's given me!)

Anyway - in the last shipment, there was this little bag of snippets - and as soon as I saw them, I knew I was going to make these:

Taken all together like that, they look kinda crazy, don't they?  lol

But they turned out rather well, just the same.

  3. It's amazing how the squares seem to float above the pebbled background- you could hang that in a gallery Kit!

  4. I am so in love with this quilt! Your mini squares are so beautiful and bright and unique and the quilting makes them stand out so much more. I've wanted to try pebble quilting for a while...your quilt has inspired me to give it a try!

  5. Oh, also, it reminds me of paintings at an art gallery...the blocks stand out away from the wall as if they are painted on lots of little canvases. The more I look at this, the more I love it!

  6. Wow!! What a wonderful art quilt and how inspiring to be the recipient of scraps from a costume designer. I can imagine the little thrill you must get as you open the newest batch of scraps.

  7. Hey, It's awesome. Just as beautiful as I thought it might be. Aren't scraps wonderful. I have one almost like it that I posted a few post ago. The background is black instead of white. I haven't got up the nerve to try and put it all together, but your quilt is a real big inspiration.
