(Thanks to Beth from Maine for the name)
So, those of you who have been with me for awhile were probably wondering what the heck I was up to with this little quilt - I mean, I've been known to do a baby quilt on occasion - but usually they're more... "adult"; and pink and white? What's up with that?
Well, there's method to my madness actually; one of my girlfriends and her husband are about to give birth to their first child; a girl. And mommy (she doesn't read my blog as far as I know); when I told her I'd make her a baby quilt specifically requested pink and girly and floral.
As a rule, I don't do "floral". So I had fretted about this for quite some time. I asked for input on the design, showing her examples and asking what she thought, and she unhelpfully declared "I trust you. I like your style so whatever you make will be perfect."
If you like my style my friend, why did you ask me for "pink", "girly" and "floral"?
But I digress.
Her due date is rapidly approaching, so having no more time to dither, I pulled my box of pink scraps and her paint swatch out, and did my best to be true to us both.
I'm pleased with the result and I only hope that she will be too - if not, I'm putting some other delightful goodies in the package (having had three sons, I never did get to
These pictures were taken in the (very) early morning light so the colour is a bit off; but you get the idea.
What do you think gentle readers? Will it fill the brief?
Kit, you are so funny! I must admit, when I look at these pics and think of who (as I know you from blogging) is making this quilt, it just doesn't square up! It's very pretty, but seems out of your comfort zone! She's got to love it! I love the quilting you did, too!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilting! It looks like the circles contain letters ... almost says kit, but the first one looks more like a j. You don't mention this, so I'm thinking this was NOT your intention? Very pretty, pink and floral, so it definately fills the brief :)
ReplyDeleteIt's adorable!
ReplyDeleteJodi - thank you! lol It really is the best thing you could say - not me, but cute. :) And thanks re the quilting - I had to put the floral in there somewhere!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicki, I'm glad you think so!
ReplyDeleteHelen it definitely wasn't on purpose - what a great eye you have!
ReplyDelete:)
I love it and the floral quilting. What a clever idea. I also like the abstract circles. There's one little girl that will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Beth!
