Three hundred, eighty-five dollars and forty-six cents worth of thread!

Wanna see what $385.46 worth of thread looks like?

Nope, that's not all of it....

And THAT's not all of it (love those luscious turquoise blues - one's a heavy mercerized cotton, and the other is a poly);

This lovely gold/brown/copper set

this mixed soft set,

 this lovely grey/silver set; and

and these metallics.

Here they are all together!

As you can see, they've been temporarily installed on one section of my new peg board which has not been installed in my sewing room yet (which is wowzer/holy smackeral crazed right now due to the half packed, half un-packed totally disorganized state in preparation for full packing due to the new floor going in) (phew!) - anyway - the peg boards will go in once the walls are painted.

But in the MEANTIME - I went to The Creativ Festival today, can you tell?  lol I go every spring and fall and stock up on thread and fusing products (which are both hard to find and expensive when you do, here); and I was hoping there would be an Aurifil representative there, but no such luck; so I bought my usual - about half WonderFil thread and about 1/2 Gamut threads (which may both be Canadian-only  thread manufacturers - I don't know that, but if you can't find those threads where you are, that may be the reason why).

Anyway, what I like about BOTH of these companies, is that though all of my sewing machines are "fussy" about what thread they'll use, the one thing all seven have in common is that they all like these two brands.

Wow, I can talk a lot about thread, can't I? I'll stop now!

See you tomorrow.  :)

Glad to see you came up with a suitable thread storage option. However I also wanted to let you know that those big peg hooks you are using come in a variety that just uses one hole instead of three across. They might be able to get a little closer to get more thread on the rack. The other thing that helps when you hang your tools is to outline the tool in pen on the peg board it self so you know exactly what goes on which peg. But a word from experience is put all the tools up and work with it for a while before you do the outlines because you can't erase the outlines once they are drawn. (yeah I did that once).
Looks great. Can't wait to see the whole room put back together again.

  2. There is a serious case of thread envy going on over here!

(Not least because that amount of thread would have cost at least double that amount in the UK!)

  3. oh, I wanted to go to the Creativ Festival this year, but I couldn't make it happen, since I live in Winnipeg. I've been twice in the last 10 years and I hoping to go soon. maybe we'll connect next time.

  5. Gosh - you bought all those threads ??? WOW ... As I know you, you'll put it to good use ... but seriously ... all those threads in ONE shopping tour? I can only second Deborah, I think I feel some envy, too ;-))

  6. Oh my -- all that thread looks like candy! I don't have a lot of thread choices at my LQSs, so I tend to stock up when I'm at shows or traveling. It's so nice to have lots of choices at hand when you're working. I hate having to interrupt what I'm doing to go on a thread run -- just ruins the flow of creativity.

  8. Ha! Yeah! What Vicki said! Lol. I spent $80 on fibres and thread at our show this weekend. Wonderfil and Sulky. $80 didn't get me very far!!
    Good for you!

Threads are a mystery... Why do they cost so much? What makes one twist go through your machine easily while another won't tension out? I now audition new threads in small spools.
