Un Petite Chanson

Finished!

Although BSP said this piece was like champagne, to me it seemed like the way an aria would look if you could see it as it came out of someone's mouth - so I called it Un Petite Chanson (A Little Song). However, I should have called it "Rorshack Test", given the comments this week as I was making it! :)

BSP seemed quite confused by this piece, feeling that it was quite a lot outside my usual oeuvre - but to me it seems very much like Flotsam Meets Japan - only in a more monochromatic palette.

One of the things I love about this piece is that it can be hung either way, depending on how it will fit in your decor!

So pretty - even if I do say so myself!

Have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday with more new beginnings!

  8. Did you say how you'd put these layers together? I couldn't find anything about that, but then, I'm getting to the end of being able to sit here and losing my browsing strength. I'm specifically wondering how the cut edges will hold up to washing. I love the idea of this and the look right now is amazing!! It looks like it was a lot of work too. What is in the future for this piece?

I also wanted to say that I'm encountering many websites that offer a different presentation format, like yours. You're all tempting me to try something different.

  9. Hi Rita, answering here in case anyone else wants to know:

I put the layers together like you would a normal quilt - the top is raw edge applique - so I first fused the pieces down, and then sewed every piece down individually by machine with invisible thread. It was indeed a lot of work! lol

As for the future - if someone wants to buy it, I'll sell it, otherwise, I'll hold onto it until an appropriate show comes up - or, I've actually been thinking about hanging it in my *own* home, framed under glass - thus far, only one piece of mine is hanging in our house, but I really like this one. :)

  13. This is beautiful! My first impression was being under the sea, with bubbles and octapus's (? not sure what the plural of octapus is!)

I love this! It is very whimsical and pretty too. The detail is striking, and I can see why some people are reminded of the sea. Very nice.

  22. I have done quite a lot of machine applique around fused pieces. It is A TON of work--especially the sewing around all those little circles. I can sure appreciate the work on this piece. Very nice. I like the muted color palette. It does look like something under the sea to me. It looks like the Beths are in agreement!
