Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to bead I go!

I've come to like beading (and if you've been with me more than a year, we'll all wait until you pick yourself up again)....

But sometimes it can be a bit crazy. This section, which is  all of 11 inches by 6 - took me TWELVE. HOURS to hand bead.

There's gotta be a faster way, no?

No?

Oh.

  2. You can always glue the beads but then there is the risk that they can fall-off later.

  8. oh yes, those beads do take up the hours, but then what else would you do with the time, wash the dishes? sweep the floor? I say adding beads to a quilt is so much more interesting!

  12. What would you say if I told you that there was actually a faster way?

It means learning a new skill, tambour embroidery, but I know a few people who are quite good at it who say that it's much faster than the traditional way for sequin, bead, and even thread embroidery.

In case you're interested, I put together a resource list here! http://www.saturdaysequins.com/2012/04/tambour-embroidery-resources.html

  16. Looks great! I avoid hand sewing at almost any cost, but one exception is just that... sewing beads onto my things. I love it, and haven't found a shortcut either...

  18. I'm also an avid beader with my fibre art. Nothing brings a piece to life like beads...so it's totally worth it.
