I've come to like beading (and if you've been with me more than a year, we'll all wait until you pick yourself up again)....
But sometimes it can be a bit crazy. This section, which is all of 11 inches by 6 - took me TWELVE. HOURS to hand bead.
There's gotta be a faster way, no?
No?
Oh.
Joining in with my pals over at The Needle and Thread Network for WIP Wednesday. :)
Oh yeah - I hear you !!! But it sure looks great ;-))
ReplyDeleteYou can always glue the beads but then there is the risk that they can fall-off later.
ReplyDeleteIt shows great patience and hats off to you for that. Very magical!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice in bead/sequin selection.....beading?? Time consuming??? Oh my, I didn't realize that!?!? Grinning.....
ReplyDeleteIt's a tad early...but Merry Christmas to you and all your readers....
i wish, i wish upon that star, less time it take to be(ad) :)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful....
ReplyDeleteI say the time is well spent! Looks wonderful so far!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, those beads do take up the hours, but then what else would you do with the time, wash the dishes? sweep the floor? I say adding beads to a quilt is so much more interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt is so worth it !! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is just stunning!! I know; a lot of work, but you did a fantastic job Kit.
ReplyDelete12 hours well spent - it looks fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteWhat would you say if I told you that there was actually a faster way?
ReplyDeleteIt means learning a new skill, tambour embroidery, but I know a few people who are quite good at it who say that it's much faster than the traditional way for sequin, bead, and even thread embroidery.
In case you're interested, I put together a resource list here! http://www.saturdaysequins.com/2012/04/tambour-embroidery-resources.html
No shortcuts but well worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteLOL. However the beading was worth the time spent!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! And there are times when we just need a slow project to counterbalance the rest of our busy lives......
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I avoid hand sewing at almost any cost, but one exception is just that... sewing beads onto my things. I love it, and haven't found a shortcut either...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was worth every minute!
ReplyDeleteI'm also an avid beader with my fibre art. Nothing brings a piece to life like beads...so it's totally worth it.
