These days I'm enjoying the mix - whether it be in interior design, music, or my art - I'm liking combining, seeing things work together, following natural progressions and letting my instincts guide me without worrying about some of the questions and things that took up a lot of real estate in my brain this summer (i.e. capital A "art", am I developing, where am I going, how do I get through this block, etc.)
And since I'm operating out of instinct, of course I'm making trees. Expect to see a lot of trees over the next little while. ;)
Speaking of trees...
This one started out with basic trunk made out of some of my hand-painted papers, and I added machine stitched branches in dark brown and black threads.
And since I'm getting stitchy with it lately, I added some hand stitched grasses.
It's already much better than the original "November", but it needs a couple of more little touches to make it sing.
Big finish on Friday!
P.S. What the heck - linking up with WIP Wednesday. Come check out what Canadian fiber artists are up to!
Very nice, as usual! I love the papers you used for the tree. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very interesting...can't to see how it develops:)
ReplyDeleteNice work, Kit. I love the combination of fabric and paper! So far I'm enjoying the mix too -- can't wait to see it on Friday. :)
ReplyDeleteBefore you added the grasses I thought you were getting ready for winter. It's a very nice pice.
ReplyDeleteI will never tire of trees. They are the Elders of the earth, you know. Your hand stitching gives such texture and vibrancy to each piece - really makes it come alive. Great stuff Kit.
ReplyDeleteThe paper works well with the fabric and I agree with you about the comparison with November. There is something very wild and primitive about this one. Lookign forward to seeing it develop
ReplyDeleteohhhh this is a great start - but did ya have to pick a winter scene? I mean gosh - in the not too distant future it will be a reality after all! grin!
ReplyDelete:) I like to see the back. It look fabulous (the front and back).
ReplyDeleteYour works always make me smile, Kit :)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing. I love your attention to detail. The little birds are perfect!!
ReplyDeleteNice. nice, nice!
ReplyDeleteI do like trees, myself! ;)
