Any one of these, or all taken together, could make a wonderfully textural piece of textile art or a lap quilt.
Andy Warhol's painting (top left corner) on it's own is wonderful inspiration for a modern quilt; the bamboo installation at Moma translated quite literally into strips of fabric; the beautiful tree bark - first a piece or pieces of painted fabric and then stitched over top to give depth and texture; or a blurred vision of just the colours and textures of Hollie's paper collage...together or separately, the possiblities are endless!
What I'm working on right now...
(Note to self: Learn how to photograph shiny fabrics in fluorescent light.)
Stay tuned...
You may remember I gave you a sneak peek of this last Monday on my "WIP Wednesday" (I know, I know, but we're back on schedule now!); so here's the finished product on Monday like it's supposed to be. *heh
The inspriration for this quilt was believe it or not, this:
*hee* To follow up my WIP post on my Finished Piece Monday, I thought I'd share a finished piece on WIP Wednesday. *s*
This is a quilt some of you may remember I started back in 2009 - and when I was done making the top, I was sooooooo upset because I felt it was such a waste of a fabulous vintage fabric.
Although it didn't turn out as I had imagined it would, I do like it very much now. (Time heals all wounds, as they say). I quilted it last night in about an hour flat, because we desperately needed a "summer weight" quilt for our bedroom (which is situated on the surface of the sun, y'see. Or perhaps that's my menopausal symptoms talking. No matter!)

So, I know I usually do WIP Wednesdays on, well, Wednesday, but Pinky Tuscadaro and I are not quite up to speed yet. (Okay, she's up to speed, and I'm not quite there yet. *w*.) Eventually, I got my issues worked out, but then I ran out of thread. (Apparently, Pinky only enjoys the highest quality. Fan-CEE!)
So, I only have a work-in-progress to show you instead of a finished product.
She's gonna be a beaut! :)
